The Eagles came off of spring break swinging the bats as the offense collected 13 hits in an 11-6 defeat of Trinity. Monday’s game was the second meeting of the season for the two teams, but the first win for either team as the first contest ended in a tie in the FCA tournament. The Wildcats struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first, but Alabama Christian answered with three runs in the next frame highlighted by a two-run double from Brandon Bice. Trinity scored three in the bottom half to take a 5-3 lead after two. After scoring one in the third, ACA plated three runs in the fourth on two wild pitches and a bases loaded walk to take the lead for good at 7-5. Bice scored a run in the fifth after hitting his third double for an 8-6 advantage and the Eagles added three insurance runs in the seventh on RBIs from Isaac Warrick, Trey Schlemmer and Jalen Clark for the final 11-6 margin.
Brandon Bice led the offense as he finished 4 for 5 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jalen Clark, Preston Hicks and Trey Schlemmer each added two hits and combined to drive in four runs. Isaac Warrick picked up the win in relief of starter Hayes Hunt. Zac Westbrook pitched the final three innings to close out the Widcats.
