If you had the under for the girls varsity game between ACA (11-13) and Catholic, you are a winner. On a night where points were hard to come by, the Eagles scored just enough in a 28-26 thriller to down the Lady Knights. The contest was tight throughout in a typical hard fought slug fest between two old CCC foes. Mya Moskowitz hit a free throw with six seconds left in the game to give ACA a two point lead and Catholic never got a final shot as they turned the ball over as time expired. With the win, Alabama Christian and Catholic are tied for second place in the Area and will face each other again next week in the Area tournament. Senior Mary Hall led her team in scoring with 10 points while Michaelyn Manning and Mya Moskowitz each scored six on the night.
In the boys game, ACA (6-19) was over matched by Catholic as the Knights were too big, too strong and too good in a 73-51 victory. The loss was the ninth in a row for ACA and the Eagles will face Catholic again next week in the Area tournament. Avery Stuart came off the bench to lead the Eagles in scoring with 18 points. Jalen Clark added 10 points and Hayes Hunt added eight in the contest.
Both teams will face Saint James at home Thursday night on Senior night.
