The 2024 soccer season began on Thursday night as ACA hosted Chilton County. It was a cold night, but it is February so it is to be expected. The girls team started the night with a 3-0 shutout of the visitors. Alyssa Valentine recorded eight saves as she blanked the Tigers. The Eagles (1-0) scored twice in the first half as Chloe Jordan teamed with Presley Lewis on both occasions. The third goal was scored by Lewis just forty seconds into the second half as she raced up the left side and put the ball in the net. The senior scored all three goals on the night. Jordan who patrolled the middle of the field finished with two assists.
The boys did not enjoy the same success against a very good Chilton County squad. Cole Jordan scored the first varsity goal of his career in the 10th minute to tie the game 1-1, but the offense did not score again in a 1-6 loss to the Tigers. Karson Oakley assisted on the goal and Grady Roberts had 12 saves in goal.
The two teams will be back at home against Tallassee on Tuesday, February 5th, for their next game.
