Two innings did the Eagles in Friday night as Pike Road scored seven runs in the second to take a commanding lead and six more in the sixth to end the game, 14-4. ACA drew first blood as Thomas Stovall led off the game with a hit and later scored on a single from the hot hitting Mason Prestage. The Eagles tacked on another run in the second as Trey Schlemmer sent one into the night with a solo homer to increase the lead to 2-0. In the bottom half, the Pike Road bats came to life with four singles in a row to start the inning and a grand slam to cap off the scoring. The Patriots led 7-2 after two innings. The Eagles scored twice in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 8-4 on an RBI groundout from Isaac Warrick and a single from Zac Westbrook. Pike Road closed the game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth for the ten run victory.
Brandon Bice led the offense with a 2 for 3 effort including a double. Jalen Clark contributed a double while Schlemmer went 1 for 2 with a solo home run. JT Moorer started the game and took the loss as he gave up six earned runs over three innings with three strikeouts. Brandon Bice and Chase Madrid pitched the final 2 1/3 innings in relief.
ACA will being playing in the FCA tournament next week and will open with Tallassee at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday night.
